What to Expect
Starting therapy can feel like a big step — one that takes courage, hope, and trust. At Sage & Serene Counseling, my goal is to make the process feel calm, supportive, and collaborative from the very beginning. Here’s what you can expect when we work together.
The First Step: Reaching Out
When you’re ready to take that first step, you can contact me directly through the website or email to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
This brief call is a chance for us to:
Discuss what brings you to therapy
Answer any questions you may have about the process
See if we’re a good fit to work together
If we decide to move forward, I’ll send you a link to your secure client portal, where you can complete your intake forms and review practice policies before our first session.
Please complete your initial paperwork at least 24 hours before your appointment so I have time to review it and ensure we make the most of your first session together.
The First Session
Your first session is about getting to know you — your story, your goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy.
We’ll talk about what’s been feeling difficult, what’s working well, and start to identify the patterns or experiences you’d like to explore more deeply.
It’s normal to feel a mix of relief and nervousness in those first few sessions. My role is to create a space where you can slow down, breathe, and feel safe enough to be yourself.
Ongoing Sessions
Therapy looks different for everyone, but together we’ll:
Identify your goals and define what “progress” looks like for you
Explore thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be holding you back
Develop new ways of coping, connecting, and finding balance
I use a blend of evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, person-centered therapy, and Brainspotting to help you access healing on both a cognitive and emotional level.
Whether we meet biweekly, monthly, or at another pace that fits your needs, our sessions are designed to help you grow insight, strengthen coping tools, and move toward greater calm and confidence.
Virtual & In-Person Options
I currently offer in-person sessions in the Clemmons/Winston-Salem area and virtual sessions for clients anywhere in North Carolina.
Virtual sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform and are a great option for those with busy schedules, parents with little ones, or clients who feel most comfortable in their own space.
Our Work Together
Therapy is a collaborative process — we’ll regularly check in on your goals, celebrate progress, and make adjustments as needed.
You’ll always have a voice in the direction of your care, and I’ll provide honest, compassionate feedback along the way.
Growth doesn’t always happen in a straight line, but I’ll be here to guide, support, and remind you that healing is possible — and that you deserve it.
Taking the Next Step
If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing, I invite you to reach out for your free 15-minute consultation.
Together, we’ll take the first step toward a calmer, more grounded version of yourself.
